An Amazing Love©
The
office in which Lexxy worked tended to be dusty since an auto
body shop fills with grinding and sanding dust. Since her
husband had lost his job, Lexxy now had to go out and make
money even though Sam had always insisted that she stay at
home with the boys. Married after high school, Lexxy had never
held a full time job so, after 16 years, she did not have the
most hireable skills in the job market. What Lexxy did have
was a constant desire to maintain her appearance and at
thirty-four years old was in excellent condition. The need to
keep the family housed and fed took precedence and
fortunately, the owner of this small paint shop thought she
had enough skill to do the job as well as appeal to his male
client base.
Lexxy
had a bit of knowledge about computers but accounting systems
were over her head. After struggling for a week, she told her
boss she was behind and having trouble. She half expected him
to fire her. Instead, he suggested he call the accounting
systems company to send a trainer in for a week of training.
With a sigh of relief, Lexxy went home from work that Friday
afternoon feeling she could take on the world. After picking
up some groceries on the way home, Lexxy opened her door to
walk into to mayhem. The two boys were upstairs bickering at
each other. “Mom’s home,” Lexxy called out hoping to gain some
peace. There was a brief break in the bickering but not for
long. In that brief moment of silence came the droning voice
from the family room responding dispassionately, “hi, what’s
for dinner!”
Lexxy
sighed deeply and was suddenly saddened at the fact that she
was unappreciated and “unhelped”. At that moment, she resolved
to talk with her husband that night and read the riot act.
After all, if he was going to lounge around all day while she
now worked, he was going to have to get busy doing the cooking
and cleaning. The shine had faded from their intimacy years
ago and as hard as Lexxy worked to keep herself beautiful for
him, he just did not seem to appreciate her any longer.
The
boys left for a school function after dinner and her husband
Jim resumed his lay-about position on the sofa watching
television. Lexxy did the dinner dishes! When they were dried
and put away, she approached Jim and told him they needed to
talk! He grunted at her and told her after this show was over.
